How to request a sample of handwriting:
Be candid: ask for a handwriting sample by saying you
want to find out more about a person's character. Note: It's important
to share your findings with the subject and to keep the findings
confidential.
Using graphology in the
workplace:
Although it is suggested to consult with a professional certified
graphologist for employment screening,
the beyourownpsychic.comä
graphology tools can assist you in hiring staff. In employment
situations the following guidelines must be followed to maintain a
high level of integrity and to avoid lawsuits:
- Make it clear to all applicants that the
graphology analysis is only one part of the hiring process. The
interview and any other tests/evaluations are all part of the process,
so the graphology analysis, by itself, does not rule anyone out.
- The employer should get a handwriting sample
from every applicant, whether or not it is to be analyzed. Typically,
only the top candidates' handwriting samples are analyzed.
- Discuss/analyze only personality traits that
relate to the job/job description. Avoid getting into areas that have
nothing to do with the responsibilities (social/sexual, etc.).
- Analysis results should be shared only with
those who need to know the information (supervisor, etc.). The results
are also usually shared with the applicant.
Handwriting Samples
It is optimum if a
handwriting analyst has at least a page of handwriting to work with. The
sample should be dated, written spontaneously on unlined paper with a
ballpoint pen, and then signed at the end. If the person usually prints,
at least five lines of cursive should be written. It’s a good idea to
avoid attempting to analyze handwriting from just a signature or a few
words, as more handwriting is necessary for a reasonable analysis.
In order for a specific
graphology trait to accurately reflect personality, it must be
throughout the handwriting sample at least three to four times to
qualify. It’s also best to
consider other traits that might strengthen or soften the impact of any
one trait. When analyzing handwriting for dishonesty, for example,
it’s absolutely recommended that at least four different graphology
traits representing dishonesty be found at least three to four times
each throughout the handwriting sample before beginning to consider the
person dishonorable.
Please note that just
because a person’s handwriting sample might display “negative”
personality traits (we all have them), it does not mean that they are
unwilling to work on improving their character.
